Cookie Policy
1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies SPORTR uses on its website (sportr.ch), and how you can manage your preferences.
This policy complements our Privacy Policy, which gives the broader picture of how SPORTR handles personal data.
For any question about cookies, write to us at privacy@sportr.ch.
2. What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit it. Cookies allow the website to remember things about your visit : like your language preference or whether you’ve already accepted a notice.
Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting (called “first-party” cookies). Others are set by external services that the website uses, such as analytics or embedded video players (“third-party” cookies).
This policy also covers similar technologies : like local storage, pixels, and tags ; that work in similar ways.
3. The cookies we use
We group cookies into categories based on what they do.
3.1 Essential cookies
These cookies are necessary for the website to work. They cannot be turned off, because the site would not function without them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sportr_session | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages | Session (deleted when you close your browser) |
sportr_csrf | Protects against a type of attack called Cross-Site Request Forgery | Session |
cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie preferences so we don’t ask again | 12 months |
Legal basis: Strictly necessary for the operation of the Service. No consent required under Swiss or EU law.
3.2 Functional cookies
These cookies remember choices you make to give you a better experience. They are optional.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
sportr_lang | Remembers your preferred language (French or English) | 12 months |
sportr_theme | Remembers your light/dark mode preference, if available | 12 months |
Legal basis: Your consent.
3.3 Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how the website is used : which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, where they come from. We use this to improve SPORTR.
We are still finalising our choice of analytics provider. Our intention is to use a privacy-respecting analytics service such as Plausible or Fathom, which do not track individuals across websites and do not require consent in many cases ; but we will configure consent based on the final provider.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| [TO BE CONFIRMED : analytics cookies will be listed here once the provider is selected] | Measures aggregate website usage | [TBC] |
Legal basis: Your consent (where required).
3.4 Marketing cookies
We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not track you across other websites. We do not allow third parties to target advertising to you based on your visit to sportr.ch.
If we ever decide to introduce marketing cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your explicit consent before activating them.
4. Third-party services on our website
Some pages on our website may include content from third-party services : for example, embedded videos or social media buttons. These third parties may set their own cookies. We do not control these cookies; they are governed by the third parties’ own privacy policies.
Currently, the third-party services that may set cookies on sportr.ch include:
- [TO BE CONFIRMED : finalised before launch]
We will keep this list current.
5. How to manage cookies
5.1 Through our cookie banner
The first time you visit sportr.ch, you’ll see a cookie banner asking which categories of cookies you accept. You can accept all, accept only essential cookies, or customise your choice.
You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the “Cookie preferences” link in the website footer.
5.2 Through your browser
You can also control cookies directly through your browser. Most browsers let you:
- See which cookies are stored
- Delete cookies, individually or all at once
- Block cookies from specific sites or all sites
- Be notified when a cookie is set
How you do this depends on your browser:
- Chrome: support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
- Safari: support.apple.com/guide/safari/manage-cookies-sfri11471
- Firefox: support.mozilla.org/kb/cookies-information-websites-store-on-your-computer
- Edge: support.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge
Note: blocking essential cookies will prevent parts of the Service from working.
5.3 Do Not Track
We respect “Do Not Track” signals where required by law. When your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a signal that you have not consented to non-essential cookies.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we add or change cookies, or when the law changes. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you via the cookie banner or other prominent notice on the site.
